BATS Membership

Joining BATS means becoming an active part of Antwerp’s vibrant English-speaking theatre community—whether your passion lies on stage, behind the scenes, or in the director’s chair.

 

Membership types & rules

1. Cast & Production Team Members (Strict Insurance Policy)
Anyone is welcome to audition or express interest in a production without an active membership. However, to ensure full insurance coverage and maintain fairness across the society:

• Payment Deadline: Your full membership fee must be paid by your second rehearsal at the latest.

• Strict Policy: If membership is not paid in full by the second rehearsal, you will not be permitted to continue with the production. We cannot take risks regarding liability or uninsured participation.

2. The "Starter Bat" Membership (First-Time Crew Only)
Are you lending a hand backstage for the very first time? If you are joining us solely to help backstage during the performance run of a specific show, BATS will provide and cover your insurance for those show dates.

• Note for Returning Crew: If you return to help on subsequent productions or attend rehearsals, you are required to become a full paying member. As an all-volunteer club, fairness is essential—everyone pitches in, and every recurring contributor needs full coverage.

Perks of full BATS membership

• Full insurance cover: Comprehensive liability and accident coverage through Opendoek.

• Opendoek vzw affiliation: Official membership with Flanders’ amateur theatre federation.

• Venue & workshop discounts: 50% discount on Belfry rental fees plus reduced rates on BATS workshops.

• Voting rights: Have your say on club matters and leadership at our Annual General Meeting (AGM).

• Community connection: Access to members-only events and our monthly Batogram newsletter.

• Sustaining Antwerp theatre: Your contribution directly ensures the continued survival and growth of English-language theatre in Antwerp.

Membership rates

• Adults: €35

• Youth (< 26 years): €20

• Juniors (< 18 years): €10

(Note: Your membership is valid for one full year from your date of payment.)

How to join or renew

1. Transfer the fee to our bank account:

   • Account: KBC – BE48 4126 2114 4127

   • Payment reference: Membership BATS + [Your Name]
      

2. Send an email to membership@batsantwerp.be with the subject line "BATS Membership (Renewal) + [Your Name]", including:

   • Full name

   • Postal address

   • Email address

   • Date of birth (required for Opendoek insurance registration)
